give you a firsthand look at new rides that will thrill you this summer. 5:00 a.m. this friday. good morning, and welcome to "nbc10 news today." i'm tracy davidson. >> i'm vai sikahema. rides that thrill, weather that excites. at least that's what i heard meteorologist erika martin say about the weather this weekend. exciting for you. >> yeah, i'm excited. i also had a cup of coffee so i'm ready to go. i'll talk about this weather. psyched for morning. currently seeing mostly clear skies. temperatures in the low 60s. the winds are calm, coming out of the northwest. eventually they'll shift as the cold front sweeps through. expect the winds to kick up. for the most part, a great day. breezy for this afternoon. so your neighborhood forecast for the lehigh valley, we're seeing 50 in brandon, lenardsville, 51. warnersville, 51. walnut port 57. bethlehem at 50 along with easton. a chillier start for the northwest corner.

otherwise, a great start overall simply because we're seeing mostly clear skies. now for the p.a. suburbs, malvern at 55 degrees. west bradford township, 57. chadds ford at 51. north wales at 48. elroy, 51. bedminster seeing 51 now. new hope, chillier at 49 degrees. we have a great day on tap with temperatures climbing into the 70s and 80s. wait until you see this for today. be sure you plan a lot of outdoor activities. satellite and radar image picking up on mostly clear skies, clouds for mt. pocono to the northwest region. otherwise an area of high pressure to the west is our weathermaker. i will have more information in your most accurate weather forecast coming up in ten. see you then. we're watching the schuylkill expressway's on ramp to the vine. slow here because nay just lifted the last -- they just lifted that last bit of construction out of the way. traffic was slow behind that as crews were working here. it literally just happened in the last 15 seconds or so.

this is the last ramp that was closed accessing the expressway. the vine open both directions. you should be good once you head out the door there. watch for extra construction in the area, just in case. also some construction to watch for on the schuylkill's westbound side. the westbound ramp to the roosevelt boulevard right in here, it's partially blocked. just the left lane and shoulder are blocked right now, one lane of traffic getting by. we don't see backups on to the schuylkill expressway schuylkill expressway. 422 looks good. we'll end with the drive times. they look okay. eastbound from 29 to the schuylkill, eight minutes. average speeds there into the 60s. the trump administration is asking the supreme court to immediately reinstate the president's ban on travelers from six mostly muslim countries. an appeals court has blocked the ban. this comes as there's growing fallout from president trump's decision to withdraw the united states from the paris climate deal. local lawmakers are speaking out against the decision as politicians and business leaders

across the world react. in fact, overnight, landmarks were used to protest the decision. one world trade center's spire was lit up in green. in paris, city hall was bathed in green light, as well. nbc10's pamela osborne joins us live from the digital operations center. and pam, the president for his part says he wants a better deal. >> reporter: that's right. whether the president is able to get a better deal remains unknown. the french president reacted quickly to the news of the u.s. withdrawal saying there will be no negotiating. in rittenhouse square, 200 concerned citizens packed the church of holy trinity on walnut street. these were local environmentalists. they were there for a so-called town hall. i say so-called because senator pat toomey was invited but did not attend. instead, constituents addressed a mannequin stand-in and n a suit. we talked to the mom of 6-year-old twins. she helped organize moms air force. she was disappointed to learn

that the u.s. left the paris agreement despite the president saying he'd get a better deal. >> states has long been and continues to be the largest carbon polluter per capita in the world. and you know, i think about the common sense lessons that we teach our children. make a mess, you clean it up. >> so we're getting out. we will start to negotiate, and we will see if we can make a deal that's fair. if we can, that's great. and if we can't, that's fine. >> this fair deal that the president is referring to was a campaign promise. he has said the agreement would have cost trillions of dollars and more than six million jobs. still, mayor kenney says philadelphia will uphold the u.s. commitment, and pennsylvania governor tom wolf said, "i am disappointed the president has chosen this path." the u.s. joins syria and nicaragua as the only three countries that are not part of the deal. i'm pamela osborne, nbc10 news. meantime, former president obama released a statement about president trump's decision

saying, "the nations that remain in the paris agreement will be the nations that reap the benefits in jobs and industries created. i believe the united states of america should be at the front of the pack." and we're hearing more details about the pennsylvania man arrested inside the trump international hotel in washington, d.c., after police found weapons and ammo in his car. 43-year-old brian moles of erie county made his first court appearance thursday. in documents, police said the initial tip came from an acquaintance who said moles was traveling to d.c. "in order to get closer to president trump." 5:05. breaking news overseas. three dozen people dead after a gunman stormed a casino in the plenty capital of manila and set fire to the gaming tables. the victims died from suffocation or smoke inhalation. he stuffed the backpack with casino chips and ran from the building. authorities say he apparently killed himself in an adjacent hotel. we'll have updates on air and on the nbc10 app. meanwhile, here are some of

the stories we're following in the day ahead -- >> in camden county, the final farewell of a helicopter pilot with ties to the family. a visitation and funeral are scheduled later for michael murphy. he was training in inclement weather last week when his medical chopper crashed in new castle. he was a backup pilot for sky force 10. his wife erica, who is pregnant with their second son, told us that michael was a great father and husband who loved to fly. the judge in the bill cosby case says that he'll wait until next week before ruling on what evidence can be used. at cosby's trial in montgomery county, lawyers from both sides were in court thursday. the defense is trying to exclude exert testimony when cosby goes on trial monday. cosby is being tried on the charge that he drugged and molested a woman inside his cheltenham home more than a decade ago. this morning, an 18-year-old philadelphia man is being held on $5 million bail for the attempted murder of his younger sister. sam iralfred's -- samir alfred'

son took her car without permission and he had had problems wnto her home to retrieve the vehicle information and found her 7-year-old daughter unresponsive with a plastic bag over her head. thhi in critical condition. philadelphia police are looking for a student who hit his principal in the face while the educator was trying to break up a fight. this happened wednesday afternoon outside the filter academics plus school in germantown. a school official said students ganged up on the president and hit him with a brick. boone suffered serious facial injuries and needed eight stitches. police have a description of the student they're looking for. in new castle county, a man is charged with impersonating an officer. police say joseph dooley told a woman to move her car away from a restaurant last week and called her a racial slur. dooley said he was a new castle county police officer. happening today, construction along septa's kenwood regional rail line will shut down the tracks for the next week.

today through next friday, no trains will be running on the kenwood line. septa will provide buses for commuters who use the line. signs are posted at stations telling riders where the buses will board. customers at pse&g will be paying less for some services and more for others. the new jersey power company says customers will get a decrease of 2.5% on their electric bills, but gas customers could see a 3.5% increase in the fall. pse&g says that means the average customer will have to pay about $31 more per year. the greater philadelphia film op will -- film rally will hold a special on critical filmmaking. they will join at the bottom of the art museum steps this morning. organizers say the film industry is in urgent need of support. in delaware, you can reel in a big fish without getting a license this weekend. the division of fish and wildlife is offering free fishing, crabbing, and clamming in any delaware waters.

it's all in celebration of national fishing and boating week. anglers must follow the rules on size and catch limits. do you know what's fun about that? i'm going crabbing tomorrow with denise nicanus. i'm psyched about that. right now, i'm psyched about mostly clear skies, sunrise at 5:34 a.m. a gorgeous day on tap. temperatures topping out in the low 80s. seeing 70s for the first half of the weekend. overall, i'd say it's a nice stretch of weather. out-the-door forecast, lots of sunshine, get the sunglasses handy. by noon, seeing 76 with a mix of sun and clouds. upper 70s by 4:00 p.m. that's the same deal for the delaware valley. notice we're seeing a mix of sun and clouds. that's it. at 8:00 a.m. for the lehigh valley, 60 degrees. jersey shore seeing 66 at 8:00 a.m. by noon, 74 degrees. 77 by 4:00 p.m. i do want to show you, however,

this just me being very, very picky. a cold front sweeping on through. hour-by-hour forecast starting at 6:00 a.m. notice we're seeing northwesterly winds. eventually we'll see a shift in winds. westerlies mainly. by 6:00 a.m. notice how we're picking up greens on the screen. it's not going to be a washout. we may see extra clouds start to build, especially mid to upper-level clouds. i want to mention this -- especially, you may see one or two sprinkles moving through for the most part. it's going to be a gorgeous day. your ten day on 10 brings 70s today, 80s on saturday, 80s on sunday. cooler by next week. however, keep in mind you'll need the umbrellas for the following monday. >> thank you. 5:10 on this friday. we'll find out what's going on route 73 in south jersey. >> jessica boyington has you covered. we look good so far. 73, most of the jersey roads look okay, as well. around the 295 on ramps, everything is nice and clear. just a few cars out the door here. so we're good to go on route 73.

95 looks good, as well. i'm watching the drive times here. everything is green. 11 minutes on the northbound side from 295 to 495. that's the most it's going to take you. also watching mass transit. thorndale train 501 running two cars short. same with doylestown train 501. with both running two cars short, we can expect delays and overcrowding for sure. also watching the schuylkill expressway, the on ramp to the roosevelt boulevard, that construction we were watching since this morning, earlier anyway, around the 4:30 mark, that has completely cleared. we're good to go there. if you're taking the schuylkill westbound you won't have to worry about delays approaching the boulevard. back to you. returning home. a philadelphia councilman speaks out about being stabbed. >> i said, did you just stab me? and he had. i looked and saw the weapon. >> what he says about the moments a man tried to rob him as the attacker remains on the run. and at 5:11, fighting for his dream. a delaware teen is up for a national honor. how he isn't letting a disease

5:15. what a fun time we've had this week. our shore tour begins in rehoboth beach. >> and we have something for all you thrill-seekers. matt delucia joins us live. you gave one extreme ride a try? >> reporter: and 40s it had to be the -- and of course it had to be the most extreme ride they had. at rehoboth beach, you can gte good thrills. one spot has been around for several generations, and they keep going because they're family. >> blessed.

we are very blessed. >> reporter: blessed every day. and al has this a bit of experience -- he and his family opened fun land in 1962. what's it like seeing people come and enjoy this year after year? >> it's very gratifying. it's the best part of my day. >> reporter: in fact, some people have been coming back for so long, their kids came here and now the grandkids are coming. >> we had a gentleman last summer that told us that he rode the fire engine ride 70 years ago. nostalgia plays a huge part in what we're offering here. >> reporter: keeping low ticket prices, too. with old favorites like the tea cups, the sea dragon, and the haunted house, there's a newcomer this year with a lot more power. >> high thrill, high energy. everybody's loved it so far. >> reporter: super flip 360 was built on site during the off season. >> it's nice and smooth. you don't notice you're upside down half the time. >> reporter: to check out the

take it down in the fall. there's a lot of work going on behind the scenes. five generations in the family, and they're even getting the younger kids working so they can take over and keep funland running for years to come. and my favorite part coming up, food. do the food after the ride. >> note to self, food after rides. >> if this reporting thing doesn't work out, you can be a nasa astronaut i think. >> reporter: yeah, yeah. maybe in the next life. not now. >> thanks. >> we look forward to the full report. exactly. a well-known restauranteur, guy fieri, checked out our sky force 10. he was spotted admiring the chopper on the heliport at penn's landing yesterday. may be looking to buy one. phil norton gave him an inside look at the helicopter. fieri was in town for an event at his restaurant, guy's philly kitchen and bar, that opened last fall. >> fair to assume he choppered in and said -- that would look good in my driveway?

speaking of address, speaking of drives -- of driveways, speaking of drives, jessica boyington? watching 78? yeah, the lehigh valley at lehigh street. the camera here. everything looks good. very light. you know, it's a friday. a lot of times on fridays we see really light volume especially throughout the morning hours. there might be a spot of that commute where we'll see some jamups that are pretty typical of the morning commute. usually it's lighter on days like this. 2 02 looks good. northbound and southbound doing well. also watching the whites horse pike at berling cross keys road. moving through the intersection, no backups at the lights, and everything looks like it's running smoothly. the roads are dry. that's good. we'll end with bridges. everything's clear with the walt, ben, burlington bristol bridge. earlier we had alternating lanes of construction. that's cleared in the last 20 minutes or so. you'll be good heading over any of the bridges this morning. more updates when i come back in
